The Execution of Steven McHone
Central Prison, Raleigh, North Carolina
November 10-11, 2005

At 2:00 a.m. on November 11, 2005, the state of North Carolina executed Steven McHone for his involvement in the murder of a family member. The day before, on November 10, a vigil for clemency was held at the State Capitol, and later that night a prayer service took place at a local church. The execution went forward as attorneys of Steven wept in the prison visitation area. These photos tell the story of that night.
